Lions Rally Falls Short

On a windy and rainy night at "The Pat" the SLU Lions dug themselves a hole that in the end they couldn't get out of as they fell to Sacred Heart 9-8.  The Pioneers put good swings on the ball all night (you could tell they have been locked up in the batting cages with the cold temps up north) racking up 15 hits and taking a 8-3 lead by putting up five runs in the top of the 4th inning.

Josh Janway, pitching for the first time this season, was able to stop the bleeding as he pitched 5.1 strong innings.  Janway gave up no earned runs, on six hits and struck out nine.  The Lions scored four runs in the bottom of the 6th and picked up another in the 9th but it wasn't enough as SLU stranded 11 runners on the night.  The teams meet again in a doubleheader slated for 1pm on Sunday.
