Officially it will go down as a 9-0 forfeit win for the Lions over Southern. Although Southern was leading 2-1 in the top of the 8th inning when play was suspended due to lightning, because Southern refused to take the field when play was to resume they officially forfeited the game.
On the scoreboard SLU put up 1 run on only five hits and committed a season tying high six errors. It was also the 3rd consecutive game SLU did not collect an extra base hit. In their last five games the Lions have committed 19 errors.
Josh Cryer led the Lions at the plate going 2-3. With his two hits Cryer moved into 5th place on the SLU all-time hits list with 200. He becomes only the 5th Lion to collect 200 hits joining Joe Labruzzo (201), Macky Waguespack (210), teammate Cass Hargis (258), and Ty Summerlin (276).
Junior 3B Jonathan Pace saw his 21 game hitting streak come to an end as he went 0-3. Pace's streak is the 2nd longest in program history to only Gavin Fingelson's 22 game hitting streak during the 1999 season. Also, Cass Hargis played in his 200th career game.
