Players of the Week - Week 8

Inside Lions Baseball has named Brock Hebert and Brandon Efferson as the Players of the Week for Week 8 of the 2010 season.

Hitter of the Week - Freshman 2B Brock Hebert
For the second consecutive week Hebert has been named ILB Hitter of the Week, as the Bourg, LA native extended his hitting streak to 12 games. For the week Hebert hit .688 with 2 HR, 8 RBI, and 4 runs scored. Hebert recorded multiple hits in all four games. Against South Alabama he hit his first career HR. In Saturday’s 11-5 win over UTA, Hebert went 4-5 with a RBI, run scored, and SB. Hebert is currently leading the Lions at the plate with a .371 average and is 2nd on the team with 35 RBI. For his efforts this week he was named Honorable Mention SLC Hitter of the Week by the conference office.

Pitcher of the Week - Junior RHP Brandon Efferson
Efferson pushed his record to 6-1 with his performance over the weekend in the Lions 11-5 SLC win over the UTA Mavericks. The Zachary High product pitched 7 innings and gave up 3 runs, as he scattered 8 Maverick hits and struck out 4. Efferson currently leads the SLC in wins with 6 and his 2.58 ERA ranks 4th. This is Efferson second time picking up Pitcher of the Week honors.
