The #20 ranked SLU Lions couldn’t get any hits to fall at Turchin Field on Tuesday night as they split the Senators’ Cup series with Tulane losing Tulane 6-0 in New Orleans. SLU dropped to 29-10 on the season.
The Lions put some good swings on the ball but the Green Wave’s defense made some nice plays limiting SLU to only 5 hits. One in particular was an inning ending double play as the Lions had the bases loaded. What look to be a sure base hit up the middle was snagged by Wave 2B Quinn Pippin who started the 4-6-3 double play to end the threat. It was the first time this season the Lions were shut out.
Jacob Ott, Justin Schneider, Taylor Wax, Tanner Lorenz, and Joel Sessions combined to hold the Green Wave to 7 hits. However, a 3 run HR in the 1st inning and a 2 run double in the 7th did all the damage.
SLU returns to action this weekend as they travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a 3 game SLC series.
