The #21 ranked SLU Lions (23-4, 7-3) dropped the series opener to Lamar 7-4 on Thursday night in Beaumont, TX.
The Lions racked up 12 hits but committed 5 errors, which led to the Cardinals scoring 4 unearned runs. Chad Gough-Fortenberry led the way at the plate going 3-4 with a 2B and RBI. Justin Boudreaux was 2-4 with a 2B and 3 RBI and Jeff Harkensee added 2 hits. Tyler Watkins took the loss for Lions as he pitched 5.1 innings giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits. Justin Schneider entered in relief and gave up 2 earned runs on 5 hits.
Game 2 of the series is scheduled for 6:30pm tomorrow night. The series resumes Saturday with a first pitch of 1:00.
