Due to threat of afternoon showers in the Hammond area on Saturday, first pitch of Game 2 of the Southland Conference weekend series between SLU and Nicholls State has been changed to noon. The game time has been moved up two hours to try and beat the rain. Friday and Sunday's games in Thibodaux still remain at there scheduled times.

Senior RHP Chris Franklin was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance on Sunday in a 11-3 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

SLU Drops Mid-Week Contest to Tulane
The #20 ranked SLU Lions couldn’t get any hits to fall at Turchin Field on Tuesday night as they split the Senators’ Cup series with Tulane losing Tulane 6-0 in New Orleans. SLU dropped to 29-10 on the season.

This Weeks Poll Watching
In an interesting turn, the SLU Lions have dropped out of one poll in which they have been ranked for the last 6 weeks and have entered another that has not had them in their Top 30 for the last six weeks. Any way you look at it the Lions are on the national scene.
Efferson Named SLU Student Athlete of the Week for 2nd Time
Junior RHP Brandon Efferson has been named the SLU Male Student Athlete of the Week for the second time this season for his performance against Texas State this past weekend.

Lions Take Series From Texas State
Freshman LHP Jordan Hymel pitched seven solid innings, Chris Franklin earned his seventh save, and the Lion hitters got some key 2 out hits as SLU won their 5th Southland Conference series with a 9-6 victory over 1st place Texas State. With the win the 23rd ranked Lions move to 29-9 on the season and 12-6 in the SLC. SLU now sits 1 game out of the top spot in the standings.
Lions Fall In Extra Innings
The #23 ranked SLU Lions fell to the Texas State Bobcats 12-10 in 11 innings in the second game of their SLC series at “The Pat” on Saturday. With the loss, the Lions fall to 28-9 overall and 11-6 in the SLC. The Lions trail Texas State by 2 games in the standings. SLU is now 0-3 in extra inning games on the season.

Efferson Goes the Distance, Lions Stick it to Texas State
The SLU Lions came into their weekend series against Texas State with a chip on their shoulder. Last season with first place on the line in the SLC standings the Lions were swept by Texas State in San Marcos, TX. This season SLU was looking to make a statement. Friday night at “The Pat” the Lions made their statement by beating the Bobcats 10-1.

Lion Nation Gets Some Love from College Baseball Today
Well not only does the SLU baseball team get some love from Eric Sorenson and College baseball Today, but so does the Lion Nation. In Sorenson’s Thursday’s Thought segment the Lion Nation received some props for coming out in full force at “The Pat” when SLU played Alabama.
Crimson Tide Downs Lions
For the first time this season the SLU Lions were beat at home during a mid-week contest, as they fell to SEC power Alabama 10-5 before a season high crowd of 2,108. With the loss the Lions drop to 27-8 and now turn their attention to a Southland Conference showdown with Texas State at “The Pat” this weekend.

LSWA Names Hebert Hitter of the Week
The Louisiana Sportswriters Association named SLU's Brock Hebert as its Hitter of the Week. The freshman 2B hit .688 with 2 HR and 8 RBI last week to the lead the Lions.

SLU Beats Alcorn State

After finishing this past week with a 2-2 record the SLU Lions held steady in the National polls. In the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll the Lions fell from #22 to #29. In the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll SLU moved up a spot to #23 and they fell one spot in the NCBWA poll, as they sit at #23.

Lions Take Series From UTA
After suffering a tough 6-5 loss on Friday night to the UTA Mavericks, the #22 ranked SLU Lions came out fighting like champions on Saturday and Sunday. With the thought of sliding to the middle of the pack in SLC race, the Lions answered the wake-up call by winning 11-5 on Saturday and shutting out the Mavs 6-0 on Sunday to win the series. Sunday marked the first time this season the Lions had a rubber match game in a weekend series.
