 vs

SLU Lions (11-1, 0-0) vs. Southern University Jaguars (1-5, 0-0)
Lee-Hines Field, Baton Rouge, LA
6:00 pm Tuesday March 9

The Southeastern Lions will look to rebound from their first loss of the season as they head west to Baton Rouge for a mid-week match up with the Roger Cador led Southern Jaguars. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00pm at Lee-Hines Field. The game is scheduled to be televised on Cox Sports Television.

SLU enters the game with a 11-1 record, finishing last week with a 4-1record and climbing to #26 in the national polls. The Lions beat Jackson State, ULL, and won the weekend series against Texas Southern. Texas Southern handed the Lions their first loss of the season, winning the Sunday series finale 6-1 in 12 innings.

Southern has lost four consecutive games after earning a 12-9 win at Cal State-Northridge on Feb. 20. The Jaguars were swept in a three-game series by Nicholls State last weekend and opened the season with a loss at No. 10 UCLA.

Notes:

SLU and Southern split their 2 game series last season, as each team won at home.

Lions skipper Jay Artigues is 6-2 against the Jaguars in his 5 years in Hammond.

Southern is the 4th of 5 SWAC teams the Lions will play this year (Mississippi Valley State, Jackson State, Texas Southern, and Alcorn State).

Freshmen LHP Jordan Hymel will make his first collegiate start for the Lions.

SLC play begins this weekend as Texas-San Antonio visits the "The Pat".
