The #29 ranked SLU Lions will look to keep their dominance of UL-Lafayette going, as the in-state rivals face off Wednesday night in Hammond at 6:00pm. The Lions are riding a three game winning streak against the Cajuns, having swept a pair of mid-week games last season by scores of 9-7 and 9-2. SLU won in Hammond 14-4 during the 2009 season. It is the longest winning streak the Lions have enjoyed in the series.

SLU is coming off of an 18-2 victory over Jackson State on Tuesday night. Jeff Harkensee leads the Lions at the plate, as he is hitting a blistering .455 with 5 2B, 2 HR, and 10 RBI. The Lions are hitting .304 as a team with 21 extra base hits. They have stolen 20-26 bases. SLU’s staff ERA is an impressive 2.86 as they are holding opponents to a .235 BA.

The Ragin Cajuns, playing their first mid-week contest of the season, are off to their best start since 2007 as they enter the game with a 5-1 record. The ULL pitching staff sports a gaudy 0.96 ERA. RHP Ryland Parker is scheduled to pitch for the Cajuns, as the junior college transfer from Splendora, TX will be making his Division 1 debut.

At the plate the Ragin Cajuns are hitting .294 as a team with 24 extra base hits. ULL’s top hitters are Brian Bowman (.444, 3 2B, 3 RBI), Kyle Olasin (.429, HR, 9 RBI), and Jordan Poirrer (.381, 3 HR, 10 RBI). The Cajuns have stolen 15-18 bases.
