Lock Down Pitching Clinches Series Win for Lions

A great pitching performance by Brandon Efferson and Josh Janway propelled the #26 ranked SLU Lions to a 2-0 series clinching victory over the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday at “The Pat”. With the win the Lions improve to 14-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. It was the fourth straight series win for the Lions this year.

Efferson improved his record to 4-0 and dropped his ERA to 2.10. He gave up no runs on 4 hits and struck out 2. Janway entered in the 8th inning and shut the door on the Roadrunners, giving up no hits and fanning 3, while earning his 4th save of the season.

At the plate SLU was led by the red hot bat of Justin Boudreaux, who extending his hitting streak to seven games. Boudreaux was 2-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Lions DH Cody Gougler was 1-2 with a 2B and RBI. The Lions finished the day with 6 hits.

The series resumes on Sunday as the Lions will go for the series sweep.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00.
