In front of an electric crowd of 1,723 the #21 ranked SLU Lions notched win number 23 as they beat Tulane 3-2 on Tuesday might at “The Pat”.
Ryan Boudreaux cooled down a hot hitting Tulane team who came into the game hitting .317 as a team. The Green Wave walked off the diamond with only 7 hits, as Boudreaux allowed 2 runs and issued 1 walk in 8 innings of work. He retired 14 of the last 16 hitters he faced. Chris Franklin came in and shut the door on Tulane as he retired the Green Wave in order to earn his 6th save of the season.
Trey Martin, who finished the night 1-2 with a 2B and 2 RBI, knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI groundout that scored Brock Hebert. Hebert led the Lions at the plate, as the freshman 2B went 2-3 with a 2B and 2 runs scored. Josh Cryer also notched two hits for the Lions.
The Lions are now 6-4 against the Green Wave in the Jay Artigues era and have won the Senators’ Cup series 2 of the last 3 years. SLU will go for their 3rd series win over Tulane on April 20 at Turchin Stadium in New Orleans. Lets just hope Rick Jones and Tulane keeps this series going, since the New Orleans Times-Picayune thinks Tulane brings out the best in Southeastern.
Go Green! Go Gold! GO LIONS!!!
